NPM 2020.2.1 Release Notes

These release notes describe the new features, improvements, and fixed issues in Network Performance Monitor 2020.2.1.

New features and improvements in NPM

NPM 2020.2.1 offers the following improvements compared to previous releases of NPM:

  • Interface availability data were migrated to use TimeSeries, thus improving the performance of the Orion Web Console.

NPM 2020.2.1 is an Orion Platform product, and runs on Orion Platform 2020.2.1. For details about new features in Orion Platform 2020.2.1, go to Orion Platform 2020.2.1 Release Notes.


Installation and upgrade

For information about installing Network Performance Monitor, see help for the SolarWinds Orion Installer.

Use the SolarWinds Orion Installer to upgrade your entire Orion deployment (all Orion Platform products and any scalability engines).

If you are upgrading from NPM 12.5 or later, you can upgrade your entire Orion deployment from the My Orion Deployment page (Settings > My Orion Deployment). Downloading the Orion Installer is no longer necessary.

496086 The issue where remote access sessions were broken for nodes with duplicated sessions was addressed.
496086, 498342 The issue where ASA polling stopped after HA failover was addressed.
457897 The issue where the Universal Device Poller application could not handle too long OIDs was addressed.
488168 The issues where NPM was not displaying correct information for Motorola Wireless Access points was addressed.
497813, 502062 Issues with session index overflow on Cisco ASA devices that resulted in remote access sessions not added were resolved.
501785 Issues with importing pollers from THWACK were resolved.
469843 Logging for Cisco ASA platform status pollers was enhanced.
470408 Confusing error and warning messages on Edit Node pages were removed.
456836 Pools in F5 alerts have the same status icon as in the Orion Web Console.
241511, 497627, 499256, 506867 VPN connections on Cisco ASA support user names that are a number.
N/A The All Alerts This Object Can Trigger widget supports child entities.
117036, 429750 The issue where MIB Browser did not respect node's polling engine was addressed. OID details for nodes polled by Additional Polling Engines display correctly in the MIB Browser.
N/A A setting was implemented to limit the number of Meraki API calls per second and resolve issues when access points for Meraki networks are not polled. See Meraki network polling issues for more details.
80832, 469145 The issue where NetPath did not properly close the connection to the whois service and thus caused exhaustion of server TCP resources was addressed.
513076 The issue where simulating an alerting action for NetPath resulted in the Unable to select NetPath Object error was addressed.

End of life

12.2 September 6, 2019: End-of-Life (EoL) announcement – Customers on NPM version 12.2 should begin transitioning to the latest version of NPM. December 6, 2019: End-of-Engineering (EoE) – Service releases, bug fixes, workarounds, and service packs for NPM version 12.2 will no longer be actively supported by SolarWinds. December 6, 2020: End-of-Life (EoL) – SolarWinds will no longer provide technical support for NPM version 12.2.

Deprecation notices

Deprecated platforms and features are still supported in the current release. However, they will be unsupported in a future release. Plan on upgrading deprecated platforms, and avoid using deprecated features. Customizations applied to a deprecated feature might not be migrated if a new feature replaces the deprecated one.
